Falls Church City, Virginia, ranked America’s Healthiest Community by U.S. News & World Report
May 3, 2018 – U.S. News & World Report – The City of Falls Church Virginia, just earned the top ranking in U.S. News’ inaugural Healthiest Community Ranking as the No. 1 healthiest city in the United States. The City of Falls Church tops all other U.S. locales when it comes to crucial social and physical factors that shape the health and well-being of its residents.
This national recognition of a nearby town is no surprise to the residents of Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads (GHBC), many of whom once lived in the City of Falls Church. A premier, dynamic Life Plan Community owned and operated by Goodwin House Incorporated, GHBC is located less than five miles from the City of Falls Church and is home to 500 residents who engage in a robust, wide-ranging schedule of activities; health, wellness and nutrition classes; and spiritual services.
Perhaps it’s no surprise that former residents of this top-ranked “Healthiest Community” chose GHBC as their retirement community. The GHBC weekly resident newsletter details a wide range of activities and programs designed for older adults along life’s continuum, and is a testament to how GHBC residents live healthy and engaged lives.
“Our residents are quick to say that they joined one of our Life Plan Communities ‘to live a healthy and full life,” said Lindsay Hutter, Goodwin House Incorporated’s chief strategy and marketing officer. “Our philosophy is to create and sustain an environment where the whole of a person – their sense of purpose and meaning as well as their physical, mental and emotional health – can thrive.”
