Goodwin House Hospice was created to meet the unique needs of our residents with progressive, life-limiting illness and the special needs of their families. An interdisciplinary team of skilled, compassionate professionals helps make the last stage of life a more comfortable, peaceful experience for all concerned. Focusing on the importance of personal dignity and quality of life, this experienced staff:
- Treats all physical, emotional and spiritual aspects
- Provides pain management and symptom control
- Coordinates supplies, equipment and medication related to the terminal illness
- Counsels the patient and the family
- Offers bereavement services for the patient’s family and loved ones for a year or more following the loss
- Has professionals on call 24 hours a day
Hospice care benefits individuals coping with terminal illness who want the focus of care to be on comfort rather than cure. Anyone can make a referral to Goodwin House Hospice on behalf of a patient, including:
- The patient
- A physician
- A social worker
- A family member
- A friend
- A member of the clergy
