Fran B. Casey

Chief Talent Officer

As Chief Talent Officer, Fran Casey leads talent recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, and mentoring for Goodwin House Incorporated (GHI), which employs over 800 individuals across its residential communities, at home life care program, and palliative care and hospice program. Her approach reflects the organization’s deep commitment to diversity and opportunities for all regardless of religion, ethnic origin, or sexual orientation. With its richly diverse workforce, GHI places a high value on culture and invests heavily in training programs and activities that help all employees understand and embody “the Goodwin House Way” – namely, a culture based on ethical values, quality of care, service to others, and respect for individual differences.

Promoting from within is also part of “the Goodwin House way” and has led to expanded talent education, which Fran initiated to support staff retention. She also spearheaded development of the ongoing GHI Emerging Leaders Program, and she encourages widespread use of the GHI tuition assistance options available to staff. In addition, Fran initiates and implements formal management and supervisory training to prepare those who show aptitude and enthusiasm for promotion within the organization. Personal growth and professional competence are encouraged, too, through development programs in areas such as quality, diversity, safety, personal wellness, and even English as a Second Language.

Fran has depth of experience at GHI, starting over 25 years ago as Manager of HR for Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads and progressing through Director of Quality Assessment and Staff Development, then Director of Training and Corporate Director of Human Resources, before achieving her current position. Fran embodies the GHI value of “seeking to learn so that we can lead.”  She has initiated and led collaborative partnerships with other Virginia continuing care retirement communities and is always exploring new ways for staff to collaborate with outside partners in the service of seniors and those who care for them.

Fran holds a B.A. degree in Psychology and an M.A. in Human Resources Management from The George Washington University.  She also holds Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification, and is a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional.
