Kathleen S. Anderson

President and CEO

Kathy Anderson, appointed President and CEO of Goodwin House Incorporated (GHI) in 2002, is a dynamic leader who attracts top talent to join her in continually expanding the vision and mission of the organization.  Significant achievements under Kathy’s leadership include the 2007-2010 expansion of the Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads campus and two new and innovative programs: Goodwin House at Home for seniors who wish to age safely in their own homes, and the Goodwin House Alexandria Small House Health Care Center.  Opened in June 2017, the small house living and health care center combines state-of-the-art, personalized care of very frail seniors with cutting-edge technology.  Both ventures are the first of their kind in the National Capital Region.

Kathy has a passion for supporting the field of aging services and is active in local, regional, and national nonprofit organizations. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors of Temple Foundation, a Northern Virginia senior living organization, and she is a member of the LeadingAge (LA) Business Strategy Council and the LA Workforce Cabinet. Previously, Kathy served LA in many other capacities, including on the LA Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Ethics Commission, and Awards Committee.  As a member of the LA Virginia Strategic Planning and Education Committees, she helped this regional chapter develop new mission and vision statements and a plan to implement both.

Kathy is deeply committed to staff development, both at GHI and across the senior living field.  Under her direction, the year-long Goodwin House Emerging Leaders Program nurtures in-house talent, and numerous, university-associated interns and trainees work at Goodwin House in preparation for careers in the senior living field.  Kathy also coaches new CEOs of senior living organizations; and she has been a Coach for the LA Leadership Academy and Co-Chair of the LA Leadership Council.

In the past, Kathy was President of the Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging (now LA Pennsylvania) and Vice Chair of the American Baptist Homes and Hospitals Association. Locally, she has served on the Inova Health System Health Care Services Board of Directors and as Chair of the Fair Oaks Hospital Quality Committee.

Before joining GHI, Kathy served Baptist Homes of Western Pennsylvania as President and CEO, and as Executive Administrator.  Kathy holds a B.A. in education from Westminster College and an M.S. in education from Duquesne University.
