LeadingAge Virginia Names Goodwin House VP Andy Siegel Co-Chair, Home Health and Hospice Cabinet

Alexandria, VA. – Goodwin House Incorporated (GHI) today reported the appointment of Andy Siegel, vice president of business development, to serve as co-chair of LeadingAge Virginia’s new Home Health and Hospice Cabinet. Focused on the delivery of health care services to older adults, this state-level cabinet is a timely initiative to identify and support ways to meet the growing demand for quality in-home care in Virginia.

“Engagement is the key to LeadingAge Virginia’s success in achieving our vision of positive aging for each Virginian,” said Dana Parsons, LeadingAge Virginia vice president and legislative counsel. “The magic of our association is the collective passion, commitment, and perspectives we bring to the table, which makes us grateful for Andy’s willingness to share his time and talent.”

Adults 65 and better currently comprise 15.4 percent of the population in Virginia. According to an Economic Impact Study conducted by LeadingAge Virginia, the state’s senior population is expected to increase 51.4 percent to 1.9 million by 2040. By comparison, Virginia’s total population is expected to grow by just 20.4 percent in the same time period. This means a significant increase in demands for affordable health care for older adults. In leading the cabinet, Siegel and Co-Chair Nancy King, chief executive officer of Senior Options, are keenly aware of the need to expand affordable in-home care for this growing segment of Virginia’s population.
“In-home care has the potential to enhance and extend the quality of life for thousands of older Virginians while lowering costs,” said Siegel. “I am honored to serve with Nancy and the other members of the cabinet to bring best practices forward and work with LeadingAge Virginia members to expand our focus on promoting the health of older adults and delivering the best care to them.”

Since joining GHI, Siegel has been a leader in expanding health care services for residents of its two Life Plan Communities in Northern Virginia and for older adults throughout Northern Virginia. He has also contributed to the creation of new business partnerships that focus on the delivery of health care services to moderate and lower-income older adults in the region.

LeadingAge Virginia is comprised of non-profit organizations working in tandem to expand the world of possibilities of aging by serving residents and clients through life plan/continuing care retirement communities, senior housing, assisted living, nursing homes, adult day centers, and home and community-based services. It is the Virginia representative association to LeadingAge, the national association for non-profit organizations dedicated to serving older adults.
