GHBC Residents as Volunteers
Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads residents have a wealth of life experiences and share their talents generously within their own community. They lead and actively participate in many committees including Building Operations, Community Outreach, Dining Services, Finance, Fine Arts, Fitness, Green Team, Health Services, Resident Council, Spiritual Life, and many others.
In addition to their committee participation, they give their time and talents in leading and assisting with religious programs, aluminum can recycling, current event programs, lectures and travelogues, flower arranging, presenting the Christmas Bazaar, running the What-Not Shop, organizing and presenting the annual Spring Fling, welcoming newcomers, running the library, volunteering for Hospice, providing Parkinson’s support, manning the Health Care Center Information Desk, singing in the Encore Chorale, Knitting for Kids, and much, much more.
GHBC residents are also active in the DC metropolitan area. They give generously of their time and expertise to more than 25 churches and religious organizations, as well as local schools (tutoring, mentoring, teaching ESOL classes), hospitals, museums, art galleries, community free clinics, homeless shelters, various charities and non-profits, in addition to their participation in professional associations and clubs.
