Goodwin Living™ Awarded Alexandria Chamber of Commerce 2022 Best in Business Award

Senior living and healthcare organization Recognized as Nonprofit/Association of the Year

(Alexandria, Va.) November 1, 2022 – Goodwin Living™, a not-for-profit, faith-based, regional senior living and health care services organization in the National Capital Region, has been recognized as the Nonprofit/Association of the Year at the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce (Chamber ALX) Best in Business Awards. Goodwin Living was honored at the Chamber ALX’s 2022 ceremony on October 27, alongside finalists and recipients from across Alexandria. Goodwin Living was a finalist in the same category in 2021.

“Goodwin Living is honored to receive the Best in Business award for nonprofit organizations in Alexandria and are grateful to the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce for considering Goodwin Living alongside other impactful and purpose-driven organizations in the region,” said Rob Liebreich, Goodwin Living President and CEO. “We look forward to celebrating this honor with the 2,500 older adults that Goodwin Living supports, honors and uplifts, and the 1,100 team members who deliver exceptional service, all of whom contribute to our efforts to ensure a better world for those around us.”

“We are proud to have honored Goodwin Living with the 2022 Nonprofit of the Year award,” said Joe Haggerty, CEO, Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. “Goodwin Living truly lives by its mission to support, honor and uplift the lives of older adults and those who care for them. Their commitment to service not only strengthens the lives of their residents but the entire community.”

In 2022, Goodwin Living invested in two of Alexandria’s challenges—the healthcare workforce shortage and creating community support for older adults who were isolated during the pandemic. Goodwin Living has expanded its volunteer and mentorship opportunities, with more than 170 students gaining experience at Goodwin Living this year. The organization also continued to address workforce challenges by expanding its innovative citizenship program, which involves Goodwin Living residents who tutor Goodwin Living employees as they seek U.S. citizenship. The Goodwin Living Foundation also provides grants to pay the application fees for team members and two immediate family members. To date, more than 120 team members and a growing number of family members have pursued citizenship through this program.

With the impacts of COVID-19 still lingering, Goodwin Living has continued to support its residents and team members throughout 2022. The organization has worked to deliver high-demand PPE supplies to other senior living communities in the National Capital Region and has made their COVID response playbook and StrongerMemory brain health program available online at no cost. Since 2021, the Goodwin Living Foundation has raised more than $1 million to support team members with tuition assistance, emergency grants and other benefits, helping team members to have greater financial stability throughout the pandemic.

Each year The Chamber ALX honors businesses for their significant role in driving the Alexandria business community and economic growth. You can find the full list of Chamber of Commerce ALX award recipients at https://bit.ly/3gQoOvu.
